TIME - NO LONGER THE GREATEST HEALER!
The 1.4 update changes the nature of player injuries in FML, so that they will (a) be match rather than time based, and (b) only stick either after Major competitions (i.e. senior FA and UFFA games), or due to training injuries. The nature of the Physio skillset is also changing, as described below.
THE BASICS
As before, an injury can occur in any match, resulting in a player having to leave the field. However, under the new system, an injury can only stick post-match in Major matches.
Injuries prevent a player playing in Major competition matches only; a player is eligible to play in any other games. If a team has no scheduled Major competition matches, or the player is a free agent, injuries recover over time at a standard rate based on the usual 1 month = 1 year.
However, as soon as a player’s team (if he has one) has a scheduled Major competition match, this recovery freezes until further games have been played.
PLAYER FITNESS AND TRAINING INJURIES
Any match can be used to increase a player's fitness, or delay the time until a player's fitness would later start to drop through not playing matches. Activity rating is no longer a factor in this.
An injured player is considered 100% fit when it comes to playing non-Major matches, unless the player has resumed light training and thus could technically be selected in a Major match. In this case his true fitness/condition will be used for all games. This allows non-rep matches to be used to help ease players back to fitness following injury.
PHYSIO SKILLS - AN OVERVIEW
Specific to the below, note that Physio skills now reduce not only the length of an injury, but the chances of it occurring too.
-
In terms of match based injuries, only after a Major competition match can an injury ‘stick’, but the chances of it doing so are reduced if the manager has Physio skills (5% per level).
-
Lasting training injuries can occur from time-to-time but the chances of such an occurrence are reduced if the manager has Physio skills (5% per level).
- The length of an injury can be reduced by Physio skills at the % rates described above, up to a maximum of 50% (general skill 25% maximum and body-part specific skill 25% maximum).
MATCH BASED INJURIES – SOME EXAMPLES
Below are some examples of the average number of matches certain injuries may see your players out for:
-
Broken toe: 8 matches
-
Bruised shin: 2 matches
-
Calf strain: 3 matches
-
Broken foot: 15 matches
Remember, for each Major game you play, the estimated period the player is out will reduce by one match!
IN SUMMARY
The new system means that the prime way to heal injuries is to play games – no longer is sitting it out a tactical advantage. You can now enjoy the luxury of fielding your strongest side in all non-Major competitions, whilst a set of good physio skills will reduce both the likelihood and severity of injuries in Major matches. As always, however, there will be no substitute for squad depth if your team are to triumph when it really matters!
We hope your side fare well under the new injury system!
