DON’T BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE!

In 1.4, the way in which a player’s potential can be identified undergoes significant change, with an overhaul of the Judging Potential skill, and the introduction of Assessment Lists.

Combined with the introduction of youth academies, the system adds much more of a strategic twist to the youth market, decreasing both the speed and ease with which future stars can be identified.

JUDGING POTENTIAL

The Judging Potential skill will no longer give automatic readings of potential for all youth players in the database.

It will now take anywhere from 7 days to 56 days to get an estimated potential on a player, depending on the level of the JP skill you have learnt. Skill levels will also affect the accuracy of assessment given, and full timings to completion/maximum accuracies are as follows:

No Judging Potential: 56 Days /60% Accuracy

Level 1 JP: 28 Days /70% Accuracy

Level 2 JP: - 21 Days /75% Accuracy

Player With Assessment

Level 3 JP:  - 14 Days /80% Accuracy

Level 4 JP: – 10 Days /85% Accuracy

Level 5 JP: – 7 Days /90% Accuracy

Under the new system, therefore, even those without the JP skill can ultimately get a player assessment – but you’ll still want to learn the skill to get both better and faster readings!

ASSESSMENT LISTS

In order to gauge the potential of players, you now have to add them to an Assessment List (picture below). All players in your squad (including those loaned in) will automatically be assessed based on the times and accuracy listed above. Players loaned out will be assessed at half speed.

The clever bit about the system comes with players not signed to your club: whilst up to ten such players can be added to your List without any additional effect to the assessment time required, once you go over that limit, the time taken to assess the potential of external players is increased.

Assessment List

Specifically, each additional such player adds 10% to the overall time required to determine the potential of all external players. Therefore, if you have 20 such players on your list, it will take twice as long to assess them all as if you only had 10.

The choice, therefore, is clear – assess fewer players but identify potential stars more quickly (before they get snapped up!), or track more in the hope that doing so will increase your chances of unearthing a gem.

PARTIAL ASSESMENT

You will begin to see the results of assessments as soon as 25% of an assessment period has passed, although the accuracy of the reading will correspond to the stage of completion. With Level 1 JP (28 Days /70% Accuracy) you will, therefore, get an initial assessment of 17.5% accuracy after 7 days. After 14 the accuracy level will be, correspondingly, 35%.

Note that you can cancel an assessment at any time, with the % complete remembered should you wish to start again later. Note also that any increases in the level of Judging Potential skill made whilst assessing players will automatically be factored into the speed/accuracy of assessments.

The new system creates some tough decisions for youth managers, but we hope you succeed in using it to find a star!
